Davids Portrait | Brother, a photo by Ian Keegan on Flickr.

It’s been ages since I posted a portrait!

So here’s one of my younger brother Dave ‘Shawdee’ Keegan, lookin all serious!

…..and I guarantee you he’ll hate me calling him that. It’s something else a little less cool I think but I really can’t remember, Hahaha!

Big Love,

Interesting Book Covers

This is a combined material approach to putting together a book cover and looks fun. I would imagine it was put together by simply photographing a slice of bread and compositing it onto a blue gradient background layer. The most interesting part of the image I find is the typeface. Jam or some sort of syrup was used as a typeface.
I would say it was also photographed, then rendered in illustrator/Photoshop further before completing of the final design.

This book cover is very elegant, professional and I feel the ballet shoes are photographed on top of the sheet music to give the feel of a classically composed piece of music and the two-tone colour along with the ribbon, compliments it very nicely.
I also like the choice of uppercase serif typeface.

This book cover is very plain, simple and I would consider it to be affective.
In photographing just the pen, it gets the message across of what the book's theme is on,...'Creative Writing'

How Cameras interact with Stuntmen

I stumbled upon this video on Chase Jarvis's blog.
Chase Jarvis is a well renowned commercial Photographer of the "Web 2.0" generation.
His work is super sharp and he usually works with massive budgets and equipment photographers would only dream about having.
Heres an example of what he's capable of and the video itself.

Fotos-For-Your-Viewing-Pleasure

These are a batch of photos from my Flickr account from protests I recently covered against the "Budget Cuts of 2010"

The first protest was held on Saturday the 27th, and was organised by several different trade unions of Dublin/Ireland in response to a bail-out package that was to be announced for Ireland from the IMF(International Monetary Fund).

The second, was a lash out against the Budget Cuts announced on the 7th December and was headed by Left Alliance Ireland, the Workers Party and Angry Students who were not able to keep up with the severe budget cuts and increase in Higher Education.

Chimera Project (Ongoing)

When I started my research on what a Chimera could be defined as, it just so happened that I stumbled across a very cool website for a design firm with the same name as my search topic.
The firm was called CHIMERA DESIGN and they do some of the most well known advertisements for big companies, like the Coca-Cola company, the Lego company, Nintendo and Mc Donalds.

Check them out :-)

Photoshop CS5 Puppet Warp Tool

I discovered this tool while messing around with the latest Photoshop.
It allows the user to manipulate elements in a photo without pixelating them and making them look tacky.
After I had done this, I then proceeded to add a posterisation filter to add harsh outlines and noise.
here are two I worked using objects from the "In My Bag" Part of the assignment,....more to follow.

Assignment 2 - Chimera Digital Montage

Brief/Task:
Chimera - a hybrid creature or imaginary monster made up of grotesquely incongruous parts.

Create a digital montage to illustrate the above - continue the chimera theme through to a dust jacket design.

(Chimera 1 – chimera in a bag):
The brief/assignment asked me to use all or any of the objects I had in my bag on the day of assignment to create this chimera.

Here were the materials at my disposal,........
